For Romanian citizens

Romanian citizens may enter the Republic of Moldova on a national identity card or a passport, without a visa, for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Important: always check the current entry conditions on the Romanian Foreign Ministry site.

For EU citizens

EU citizens may enter Moldova on a passport, without a visa, for tourist stays of up to 90 days.

Documents worth carrying

  • A valid identity card or passport
  • Travel medical insurance (recommended)
  • Proof of accommodation (it can be asked for at the border)
  • Enough money for your stay

At the border

  • Waiting times vary: early morning and evening are quieter
  • You fill in an entry form (sometimes electronically)
  • Private cars need motor insurance valid in Moldova
