How safe Moldova is

Moldova is generally a safe country for visitors. Crime against tourists is low, and local people are friendly and ready to help.

Common-sense advice

  • Keep an eye on your belongings in crowded places (markets, public transport)
  • Use app-based taxis (Yandex Go, inDriver) so the fare is transparent
  • Steer clear of heated political arguments with strangers
  • Keep copies of your important documents

Transnistria

The Transnistrian region has a special status that is not internationally recognised. Visiting is possible, but read up beforehand. Check official travel advice before you go.
