When to go
The timetable is strictly weekdays: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00. The institution is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so if you are in town only for the weekend, this one is off the plan. The 08:00 opening is unusually early for Chișinău and can be turned to your advantage: a visit before 10:00 is made in complete quiet, and the rest of the day stays free for the centre.
What to combine it with
The most natural pairing is the Muzeul de Istorie Militară at the same address, where military hardware is also displayed outdoors. After that, walking back up towards the boulevard brings you into the national museum quarter — the Muzeul Național de Istorie a Moldovei and the Muzeul Național de Artă are twenty minutes away on foot.
