Parc Ocnita
The park in Ocnița is the town's main green space, in the far north of the Republic of Moldova, close to the Ukrainian border. It has paths, mature trees and areas to rest, and access is free and unrestricted. It is not a major sight, but it works well as a stop on the road through the north of the country — a region of rolling hills, limestone gorges and old villages. Getting there
Ocnița lies roughly 220 kilometres north of Chișinău, which means around three and a half hours by car — it is one of the towns furthest from the capital. It is also an important railway junction in the north of the country, so arriving by train is a genuine option; details are in the transport guide. The park is in the town, easily reached on foot.

When to go
Access is free, around the clock, every day of the week. The most pleasant stretch runs from mid-spring to late autumn, when the vegetation is thick. Northern Moldova has harsher winters than the south, and the paths can be snowed over in January and February.
