Parcul de Distracții (Amusement Park)

Who it's for

If you have children and 48 hours in Chișinău, this is the release valve. The amusement park in Botanica works exactly as you would expect an urban amusement park to: attractions, rides, clear hours and an afternoon that passes without complicated planning.

It is not an attraction for the visitor after heritage or historical context. It is a practical solution for the second day, when the cultural itinerary starts to wear the little ones down.

Where it is

17 Trandafirilor Street, in the Botanica district, about three kilometres south-east of Piața Marii Adunări Naționale. Botanica is one of the capital's most populous districts, with its own neighbourhood infrastructure, and the park primarily serves families from here.

From the centre it is 15–20 minutes by car, depending on traffic. The area is well connected to public transport.

The hours, in detail

The timetable has one quirk worth remembering: it is not uniform. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, the park is open from 10:00 to 20:00. On Friday it closes earlier, at 18:00. On Saturday, at 19:00.

In other words, the day with the shortest hours is Friday — counterintuitive if you are planning your weekend. Sunday gives you the most hours.

Accessibility

The entrance is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet. There is, however, no accessible parking for disabled visitors, which complicates arriving in your own car. The site is marked as suitable for children — unsurprisingly, given its profile.

When to go

In the warm season, when the outdoor attractions run at full capacity. Weekend mornings are the busiest; if you want shorter queues, come on a Wednesday or Thursday, just after opening.

What to combine it with in the same day

Botanica has the best green space in the south of the city: Parcul „Valea Trandafirilor”, with three lakes, running trails, a café and sports pitches, is a few minutes away and rounds out the day perfectly. Parcul „Serghei Lazo” is also in the area.
