What sets it apart from the other parks

„Dendrariu” is not just another park with trees — it is classified as a botanical garden, and the difference shows in how the planting is organised. The paths take you through tree collections rather than random lawn, and landscaped gardens alternate with areas left looser.

At the same time, it functions as a complete urban park: it has a playground, sports pitches, fountains, benches and a lake. It is probably the green space in Chișinău with the best balance of upkeep and quiet — tidy enough for a Sunday walk, large enough not to feel crowded.

What to do there

The obvious route is the circuit of the paths, with a stop by the lake. The fountains and gardens are where most visitors stop for photographs.

Families have the playground and the sports area. Runners use the paths early in the morning, just after opening. If you are coming with children, plan for two to three hours — the grounds are large enough that you won't get bored.

Hours and accessibility

The timetable is easy to remember: 08:00–21:00, every day of the week, weekends included. It is one of the few parks in the city with fixed hours, which means gates and a certain discipline to the space.

Accessibility is good: accessible parking, a wheelchair-accessible entrance and an accessible toilet. The main paths are paved.

When to go

Late spring and early summer, when the botanical collections are in full growth — the moment the place was designed for. Autumn brings the colour, and in winter the structure of the trees remains interesting even without foliage.

The ideal hour is the morning, between 08:00 and 10:00: good light, empty paths and a reasonable temperature even in August.

Getting there and what to combine it with

20/1 Ion Creangă Street, less than two kilometres west of Piața Marii Adunări Naționale. Ten minutes by car; on foot, about half an hour along Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard and then west.

The natural combination is with Parcul „Valea Morilor” to the south and the Cascade Staircase, the monumental descent to its lake — the three link up into a single morning walk. Check the route on the map beforehand.
