Parcul „La Izvor"

A park you walk through, not visit

„La Izvor" is the kind of green space that changes the scale: where the parks in central Chișinău can be crossed in fifteen minutes, here you can walk for an hour without repeating a route. It stretches along Calea Ieșilor, in the west of the city, and its layout follows the line of the water.

Residents of the Buiucani district use it daily — for running, for walking children, for fishing on the lake shores. For a visitor, it is a chance to see everyday Chișinău, a few kilometres from Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare and the tourist logic of the centre.

What you'll find there

The main paths follow the shores and link the park's areas to one another. There are open spaces, wooded stretches and landscaped banks. The vegetation is mature, and on warm days the shade is real, not symbolic.

The park is marked as suitable for children. Don't expect an amusement park — the draw is the water, the space and the walking distance.

Hours and access

Open 24 hours a day, every day of the week, with no ticket and no gates. The entrance is wheelchair-accessible and there is accessible parking for disabled visitors.

From the centre it is roughly 20 minutes by car. Calea Ieșilor is a major artery, well served by public transport.

When to go

Mornings, if you want quiet and good light for photographs over the water. Weekend afternoons, if you want to see the park in its social role, full of families from the surrounding blocks.

Spring and autumn are the most pleasant for long walks. In summer, the lakeside paths are the coolest. In winter, check the state of the paths first — not all are cleared quickly after snow.

Organising your day

„La Izvor" works best as a full morning, followed by a return to the centre. If you have a car, you can pair it with Parcul „Dendrariu" to the south-east, for a clear contrast between a botanically landscaped park and a sprawling natural one.
