It is a little-visited monastery compared with Curchi or Căpriana, which means in equal measure quiet and a lack of tourist infrastructure. You will not find guides, explanatory panels or a shop. You will find a working complex in a wooded valley.

What you see there
The setting is the memorable part: the monastery lies in a narrow, wooded valley, away from the main road, in the landscape of hills and gorges characteristic of the Moldovan north — relief far more broken than most visitors expect of a country considered flat.
The complex has adapted parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, so the visit to the churches themselves involves no physical effort. The surrounding area, on the other hand, is natural terrain, with slopes and unmade paths — if you want to explore the valley, treat it as a small hike, not as a stroll.
Access to the grounds is permanent, with no fixed schedule and no gate closing at a set hour. That does not mean a night visit makes sense: the access road is unlit.
Getting there
From Soroca it is about 41 km to the north-west, that is around 45 minutes by car. From Chișinău the drive is considerably longer and does not make sense as a day trip for the monastery alone — build the day around Soroca and add Rudi.
Public transport in the area is infrequent and does not drop you at the site, so a private or rental car is effectively obligatory; see the options on the transport page. If you stay overnight in the north of the country, check the accommodation section — the distances make returning to Chișinău the same evening difficult.
What you should know beforehand
Shoes with a sole that grips on earth and gravel. The monastery courtyard is made up, the surroundings are not.
Stock up beforehand. Do not count on water, food or fuel nearby; the last reliable point is Soroca.
Dress and conduct: shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women when entering the church, a low voice, phone on silent. In a monastery with few visitors, discretion counts more than in one used to groups.
Photography: outside unrestricted, inside only with consent and without flash, never during the service or towards people at prayer.
